At Oakwood School we constantly strive for improvement. Acknowledging this, over the next 3 years we aim :-
To Ensure that Every Child Matters
Be Healthy/Positive Relationships
- Continue to promote and extend lunchtime and extra curricular activities
- Further develop Extended Services
- Continually update Advanced Safeguarding Training
Stay Safe
- Continue to offer Level 1 Safeguarding training
- Increase Health and Safety expertise (stress awareness, food hygiene, infection control, governor training)
- Incorporate Positive Handling Plans/Physical Management Programmes into teaching and learning planning
- Further develop play/leisure areas
- Further develop Autism provision/specialism
Enjoy and Achieve/Enabling Environments
- Extend outdoor play provision incorporating road safety and outdoor classrooms
- Develop Creative Curriculum incorporating sensory curriculum
- Further develop communication systems in line with pupil need
- Contribute towards the professional development of Walsall Children’s Services staff in line with the “building capacity” agenda
- Further develop benchmark strategies for school performance against other schools of a similar nature
- Together with Walsall Children’s Services and Walsall Special schools, re-visit pupils primary needs and the matrix of learning difficulty to refine continuum of provision across the Authority
- Further develop moderation between schools to improve pupils assessment
- Further develop the schools’ performing arts facilities and experiences
- Increase teaching and learning areas (library, safe spaces, additional classrooms)
- Further refine Assessment for Learning strategies
Make a Positive Contribution
- Further develop school clubs
- Involve family skills to enhance learning (send out a skills audit initially)
- Become more involved with local community groups
- Further develop governor involvement with “Developing Critical Governance”
- Further develop “pupil voice” strategies
- Continue to build capacity for pupils with special needs in mainstream schools (outreach)
Achieve Economic Well Being/Unique Child/Learning and Development
- Achieve ICT Mark
- Test and run new learning platform to improve communication
