Oakwood is an outstanding, all age, community special school for primary aged pupils with complex needs. We provide a high quality education for our pupils and offer a wide range of inclusive opportunities within our local and the wider community. Our links with partner schools are extensive and our multi-agency collaboration exemplary.
Staff have been trained in a variety of specialisms and we offer outreach support and advice throughout the week.

Advice concerning software, hardware and equipment including switches
Manual Handling
This includes physical management, advice on specialist equipment and lifting and handling.
Specialist Equipment/ Specialist Facilities
This includes heightening awareness of potential risks and how to organise the classroom safely within legislative guidelines focussing on DDA. Advice on suppliers.
Sharing our hydrotherapy pool, multi-sensory room, Community Arts Projects; an ideal basis for partnership class initiatives

Advice to support children on the autistic spectrum; classroom organisation, deployment of staff, strategies to empower pupils. Staff are trained in TEACCH and Team Teach.
Aromatherapy
Advice and training on the uses of aromatherapy within the school.
Early Years
Advice on Early Effective Learning Accreditation and gearing the Early Years environment to accommodate pupils with learning difficulties
